Themes of the Conference:
(1) Quine, Mathematical Logic and Philosophy of Logic Topics: Mathematical Logic and Ontology, Extensionalism, Nature of Logical Truth, Revisability of Logic, Deviant Logics and Meaning Variance Thesis, Special Place of First-order Logic, Criticism of Modal logic and Possible Worlds Semantics, Propositional Attitudes, etc.
(2) Quine, Naturalized Epistemology and Philosophy of Mind Topics: Two Dogmas of Empiricism, Underdetermination of Theory by experiential evidence, Holistic Conception of Knowledge, Naturalized Epistemology, Body-mind Problem, Physicalism, etc.
(3) Quine and Philosophy of Language Topics: Naturalistic Conception of Language, Behaviorist Theory of Meaning, Indeterminacy of Translation, Inscrutability of Reference, Skepticism of Meaning, Theory of Truth, etc.
(4) Quine and Metaphysics Topics: Ontology and Ideology, Factual Problem about Ontology, Ontological Commitment, Ontological Reduction, Ontological Relativity, Platonism, Nominalism and Conceptualism, Posit, Choice of Ontology, Rejection of Intentional Entity, etc.
Invited Speakers (4 persons, TBA)
Invited speakers have 50 minutes, other senior speakers have 30 minutes, PhD students have 15 minutes, all including the time for presentation and discussion.
Finance:
No registration fee. The conference will supply food for all registered participants of the conference, and supply hotel rooms for all foreign scholars and PhD students and for the participants from Taiwan and Hong Kong for at most 4 days.
